Body : The Anatomy of the Shoulders
In both my in-person classes for the past two weeks, and the Thrive Online classes for November, there's been a focus on the arms and the shoulders. There have been poses and exercises that both strengthen and increase the flexibility of the muscles of the shoulders plus improve the range of movement in the joints. I thought it might be helpful for you to have a visual of just how many muscles are involved when we move - both in our yoga practice and in our everyday life so here's a photo of the muscles and a short video from Bandha Yoga on how the shoulder joint moves when we raise the arms. The anatomy of our bodies is fascinating stuff!
